Assuming you had 5 links on a webpage and these 5 links pointed to 5
different websites .
What sort of info can be grabbed from the five different websites .
This info would be shown on the webpage with the 5 links .
The info gathering would be a one time process - with a option to do a
refresh info if wanted .
Although i've seen users talk about this sort of this on other
newsgroups I didnt pay much attention as I didnt want or need it at the
time .
One thing I would be very interested in would be if it would be possible
to take a screenshot of a website and then resize it to a thumbnail for
display next to the url of the website .
A refresh would take another screenshot and update the thumbnail . 6 1281

he he, tricky, you want a web browser that can be controlled by code and a
screen capture that can be controlled by code,
konqueror has dcop.
I have no suggestions for screen grabber, but Im sure there is one.
Then you will want to reduce the size. php can do that bit with gd (or
better gd2).
It will be processor & bandwidth intensive. and difficult.
you have been warned.

Will settle for just grabbing some text from the website the url points
too , How about the title text info and some words from the page .

In that case the curl functions will enable you to do what you want.
Given some of your recent postings I hesitate to point you to php.net
;) but, oh well - http://www.php.net/manual/en/ref.curl.php - the
explanations/examples there should get you started.

Had the option of reading up on web fetching or actually writing the
script using what I already know and opted to write it as the web fetch
wasnt important .
I've downloaded a few web fetch scripts from hotscripts and will have a
look to see how others have done it .
Either way its just a small script and almost finished and will post a
url later when some hosting dns changes I made catch up .

use the http protocol client class to get the page
and your favourite string-slicer to extract the data you want.

Does anyone know of a way to use PHP /w Authorize.net AIM without using
cURL? Our website is hosted on a shared drive and the webhost company
doesn't installed additional software (such as cURL) on the server because
of that. Our site will have an SSL certificate next week, so I would like
to use AIM instead of SIM, however, I don't know how to send data via POST

Hello,
I don't know if it is only me but I was sure that header("Location:url")
redirects the browser instantly to URL, or at least stops the execution of
the code. But appearantely it continues to execute the code until the
browser send his reply to the header instruction. So an exit(); after each
redirection won't hurt at all

I want viewers to compare state laws on a single subject.
Imagine a three-column table with a drop-down box on the top. A viewer
selects a state from the list, and that state's text fills the column below.
The viewer can select states from the drop down lists above the other two
columns as well. If the viewer selects only one, only one column fills. If
the viewer selects two states, two columns fill. Etc.
I could, if appropriate, have...

Hello,
I have two questions.
1. When the user presses the back button and returns to a form he filled
the form is reseted. How do I leave there the values he inserted?
2. When the user comes back to a page where he had a submitted POST data
the browser keeps telling that the data has expired and asks if repost. How
to avoid that? I tried registering all POST and GET vars as SESSION vars but

Hi All,
What is the PHP equivilent of Oracle bind variables in a SQL statement, e.g.
select x from y where z=:parameter
Which in asp/jsp would be followed by some statements to bind a value to :parameter
I dont like the idea of making the SQL statement on the fly without binding parameters as I
dont want a highly polluted SQL cache.

all I would like to do is take and image and make it fit a 3x3.
Any suggestions to where I should read or look would be appreciated.

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
