Just wondering how you go about changing the value of a session cookie
via javascript?
I have a PHP page that sets a session cookie when it first loads. I'd
like to be able to change the value of that session cookie in response
to a button click in a form, without resubmitting the page.

difference between just declaring a variable (Dim strMyVar as String) and
using a session variable (Session("strMyVar"))?
When should I use a session variable and when should I just declare it like
normal?

I'm having difficulty understanding Session state in ASP.Net. It's almost
embarrassing asking this as I've been using ASP since it was first released
& it really shouldn't be this hard to use - perhaps I'm just not very smart
or perhaps MS is making this too hard for us sql bunnies to understand - I

I have written a shopping cart using ASP .NET (VB). It has been running
quite successfully on a site for about a year or so. I use the SessionID to
hold information on the shopping cart.
I have copy / pasted the code into a new site. Everything is working,
EXCEPT for the shopping cart holding the SessionID. I have watched the
variable, and each time I hit the 'Update' button in a datagrid, the session
ID changes. That is a HUGE...

I am told that ASP.NET controls the session ID and session variables, but
that does not fit my symptoms. I am posting here as directed. I'm hoping
that someone can at least recommend something to try to isolate the problem.
I have a simple application that demonstrates my problem.
Page 1, step1: SaveSessionVariableButton will create a string value, show
it on screen, save it in a session variable and show the session ID on screen....

I had this strange problem in handling XMLDocuments in asp.net.Though the problem occurs while working on the main application.I will try to explain it with shorter code.
I had a form with 2 buttons.The first button loads a file and second button make some changed in extracted XML node.The strange thing is that I am not touching the XMLdocument created in second button but still its getting changed.It will be more clear by seeing the examples....

I find it odd all my scripts doesn't change the logged in person's name on any other page, but my threads page. I have no idea why! I looked over the script and saw nothing changing the session (Variable Wise) changing it.
I commented out some off the parts on my large script, but it seems the problem points to here though it doesn't make sence.
