Content management system with robust user permissions

I've been searching for hours for a CMS which has a lot of options for
user permissions. It has to be free and while mySQL is fine, it can't
require root permission to install.

Specifically, I want to be able to create news annoucements and links
to files, images, etc that only users of a certain group can access.
Basically, this is going to be the internal section of my company's
website where clients will login to get news pertaining to them, get
their latest invoice, etc. Eventually they want me to incorporate
SolarWinds stats into it - whatever that is.

Any suggestions? I've browsed through almost every single CMS on
opensourceCMS.c om, but none of them seem to support user permissions
like this - basically having the same website but with seperate content
for each client.

OK.

OK. Up to this point eZ Publish 3 will do what you require:
http://www.ez.no/ - you do need permission to allow/chmod the "apache"
user to write files to your account, but you do not require root or
SSH access.
Basically, this is going to be the internal section of my company's
website where clients will login to get news pertaining to them, get
their latest invoice, etc.

Depending on how many clients you are talking about - whilst a
stand-alone eZp install will do it from a technical PoV, you may want
to look into a custom extension to interface a CRM system to a CMS
front-end to reduce the administrator work-load.

Does this have to be part of the CMS or could it be a dedicated "CRM"
site on a sub-domain (e.g. myacount.exampl e.com) running separate
software?

I don't know if you like Mambo or can handle it, but i would totall
recommend it!
It has everything you need, permissions, a bunch of premade modules
and has a great way to deal with content, articles, news and so on!
And beside this, if you are planning to have a lot of users in the
future then it will do the job perfectlly!

Thanks for the suggestion. I checked out eZ Publish and it looks great,
and seems to have a decent access policy system.

Unfortunately at the moment I'm having a little trouble installing it
due to some options which only the server admin can fix, so I'm going
to email them and hopefully they'll be able to change a few of the
settings this CMS needs to run.

It could definitely be a CRM. Our actual website is fairly simple, so I
was aiming for something simple here as well. Just a place to post
invoices, network status, etc.

Ovidiu: I actually had Mambo installed when I originally posted this.
But I did some research and there doesn't seem to be any way to do what
I'd like to do regarding access control, as it appears you can only
have two groups: Registered and unregistered users. I would appreciate
any suggestions on the Mambo route though.

I don't know if you read this post,
http://forum.mamboserver.com/showthread.php?t=34381, but you have
there the permissions for users, as publisher, authors, editors and
simply registered, they are more detailled there!
User perminssions aren't hard to set, i don't know yet if there is
any module for mambo that handles this in a more complex way like
let's say phpbb, but as soon as you pull out the site and decide what
access will the registered users have , you can contract a programmer
for a few hours to add the permissions on that specific parts!

There's loads around - too many in fact! But, you could have a look at
some of the ones in: http://www.hotscripts.com/ and see if there's any
that suit. Obviously, avoid the sponsored listings unless you've got
money to burn, in which case+++ATH ;-)

Hi All, For the past few months I have been working on an open source Apache/PHP/MySQL content management system - and have recently made it available for download. It's still very much a work in progress (current release version is 0.4.6), but you should get a very good idea of what it's about by visiting the site (which uses it, funnily enough), or downloading a copy of it and trying it out.

Do any of the ASP programmers on this form utitlize ASP Content Management Systems for any of their customer (or own sites). If so, I would be grateful for any feedback and thoughts on using CMS in a hybrid static or asp web page environment. I know what it is, and yet the knowledge of what a CMS is, is so vague that I find myself asking this question every now and then. I've googled and read the resources too. However, the knowledge is still not clear. It is so vague. Me: Just what is a content management system? Myself: A place where content can be stored.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers.
