I'm trying to use imap_open to get news from a server that requires a
user name and password.
I'm using
$nntp = imap_open("{".$newsserver."/nntp:".$port."}".$newsgroup,
$newsuser, $newspass, OP_ANONYMOUS);
and it's failing to connect.

Hi, I'm trying to build a simple Perl program to get a list of
newsgroups. Here's what I have...
#!/opt/local/bin/perl
use Net::NNTP;
$nntp = Net::NNTP->new("nntp.perl.org",Debug,10);
$LIST=$nnpt->list;
$nntp->quit;
Can't call method "list" on an undefined value at ./getnntp.pl line 13.

Is it possible to send/receive nntp messages via CDOSYS without a 3rd party
news component? The NNTP links I have found appear to be related to MS
Exchange 2K.
My goal is to write an ASP interface as a customized news reader.

Does this exist in the.net framework ? I can't find it. I could find SMTP,
though.
If it doesn't, could anybody recommend a component suite that includes smtp,
pop, nntp ? But mainly, that does include nntp.
Thanks,

Hi
While looking up refs on NNTP in VB I was amused to read the following (code in C#,
not on a MS site). I'm fading too and I just hope NNTP lasts as long as I do.
"NNTP is an older fading protocol in the Internet protocol family. The protocol is used to retrieve
news from news server, a.k.a. NetNews servers. The protocol works by posting messages into various
forums, a.k.a. newsgroups. Then other end-users can read the recent posts in...

Have you seen any NNTP classes that I may use or build upon to build a
simple newsreader/downloader?
Is there such a class in the .Net framework that I have overlooked? If not,
inclusion of RFC documented protocols would certainly be a good idea for a
class hierarchy in the .Net classes.
You could adopt and extend the classes at will. Who knows......maybe even
improve one and get a new RFC implemented.

Ok, I do NOT want to *connect* to a NNTP server from PHP, I want to -
from a NNTP client - connect to a NNTP server that is powered by PHP.
Specifically, I want articles, forum posts and such from my web site
to be readable via a NNTP interface. So, when the client connects to
my server, a hierarchy might look like this:
sandman.forum.gaming
sandman.forum.media
sandman.articles.weblogs

I rarely use NNTP these days. I access c.l.py exclusively via e-mail,
and that works very well. In some cases there is a lot of spam that
gets filtered out of the nntp side, but makes it through to the smtp
side (like that religious spam a few months back). But I see absolutely
none of the google groups problems that Grant mentioned. I view my
python list mail in gmail, and get about 1-2 spam messages a day in...

ONU (Optical Network Unit) is one of the key components for providing high-speed Internet services. Its primary function is to act as an endpoint device located at the user's premises. Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
