I am a MySQL/PHP beginner and have gotten further than I expected. I am
developing a web based library catalog. After getting everything
configured, I have been working on various query formats. System is Mac
OS 10.3.8, PHP 5, MySQL 4.1.
I would like to use boolean queries as shown below, but I cqn't seem to
get the $_POST variable sytax correct. Any pointers would be enormously
helpful.

I ran a search through the mySQL manual and google and could not find a
satisfactory answer. Does mySQL support the declaration of a boolean
data type? Currently I am using VARCHAR(6)s with either 'TRUE' or
'FALSE' and would like to cut down on the storage.

for a boolean value...and I'm wondering what type I should make the field in

mode more useful? If not, are there plans in the Fulltext development
"todo" for making it useful?
I'm thinking of just counting the keyword occurences in records with a
PHP script somehow and using that to order the records somehow. Or doing
a non boolean fulltext search w/relevance first and then melding that in
somehow with a boolean search.

In java for instance there's a way to use booleans as objects and not as
value types.
I would like to do the same in VB.NET so that I can check if the boolean has
been explicitely defined (is not Nothing).
But Boolean is a Structure in VB.NET (defined to False by default) and not
an Object so I'm afraid there's no way to do what I want without any
workaround.
Can you confirm that there's no object version of Boolean in VB.NET?

I'm having an issue passing a boolean to the constructor of an object.

I've been converting a class from an original and the original class
*apparently* returned an array that could be boolean tested. My conversion
seems to have lost this ability.
if($result)
seems to be testing for non-NULL which gets me what I need, but I don't
want to change these lines in the program. I *can* change the class coding.
