1. Code completion and Syntax checker: Don't know if this exists for perl. I'm a PHP developer and NuSphere PHPED does this quite nicely, no more mistyping of standard PHP functions OR my own class functions. I'm looking for an editor of perl that knows which libraries I included and guess which function I want to call when i start to type it. It should also underline invalid syntax in red like Microsoft Word underlines misspelled words in red.
2. Project/Workspace Managment: All the projects are grouped in "work spaces". This is basically a folder you point that IDE to. It groups it nicely together in hierarchical tree like Windows Explorer folders.
3. Syntax Highlighting: With optionally, selecting your own colors.
4. SFTP or SSH upload support: something like Ctrl+S = Save, but Ctrl+Shirt+S = Save and Upload to FTP site or server.
I might be asking for too much. Most of you hardcore perl programmers will probably scuffle at my list and point to the fact real perl programmers don't need fancy bells and whistles like these.
I agree, but it makes my life easier and helps me learn perl better and transition from PHP to perl much better.
If you know or use an editor that is close to what I'm asking for, I'd greatly appreciate that recommendation.

Hey dlite! I tend to stick with only one or two editors myself. If I am just quickly whipping out a Perl script to do a quick, specific task, I usually use vi/vim/gvim (pick your poison there). On the other hand, if I am coding a larger project, I tend to stick with Komodo Edit from Active State. It has pretty much most of what you mentioned, but I am not sure about the ssh/sftp support. I don't use it for that so I haven't looked for it.
There are a number of Perl IDEs out there. I know a popular one in the Perl community is Padre. Its up and coming and seems to be pretty good from what I have seen.
Read up on both as they each have a long feature list, but Padre is Perl community supported.

Ya, Googling Perl IDE returns so many things that It's better to ask someone who is already familiar with some of them.
These two are in the lines of what I was looking for.
