You know, while working on my moonlight corporation's LAMP project at
home this weekend, I couldn't help but wonder if people writing similar
projects are solving similar problems with having to complete the
project by building an installer and building the user/group
administration piece of it.
The thought came to me that it would be great if LAMP developers,
whether they used MySQL or PostgreSQL, could just simply write the
project to...

I am relatively new to python (I have used it on and off for a few small
projects over the last few years) so I imagine that what I am trying to do
has already been done, but practical experience, even if it is reinventing
the wheel, is still useful, so...
I am trying to write a module to handle drop down menus using curses (on
linux). Curses seems to have a wrapper for the panels library, but not
forms, or menus. I am not even sure...

Hi.
I wrote some stored procedures used by a web application. As I am
fairly new to Oracle, I am missing some concepts when creating these
procedures, as a result, the application is suffering from poor
performance everytime I call these procedures. I would like your help
in order to identify potential mistakes when coding these procedures
and I am posting a package and a procedure I use very often on the
system, as an example:

Hi,
I would like to call one of my functions the exact name as an existing
C library function (for example K&R2 exercises asks me to make an atof
function). If I don't include the header with the declaration for the
C library function (stdlib.h in this case) then define/declare my own
function with the same name, am I safe? It seems to work on my
compiler, but I wonder if this is portable or even acceptable? thx

I have a multi-threaded C# console application that uses WMI
(System.Management namespace) to make RPC calls to several servers (600+ )
and returns ScheduledJobs. The section of my code that performs the query
is contained in a delegate function that I execute via a second thread. On 1
or 2 of the 600+ servers the query hangs. I've tried to use Thread.Join()
coupled with a Thread.Abort() but this does not kill the thread.
Based on...

Hello everyone;
My systems admin says that he needs to have use of the Postgres user
without a password. His Debian package manager requires this.
He tells me that he can lock down that user on the system so that there
are no security concerns.
Can someone tell me if this is acceptable?

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
