First, when asking how to do something, it is customary to post the code you have tried. That way, we can help you with what you have been working on.

Second, you will want to investigate the system() function.

Well, if you are wanting to create a script to run the system utility "unrtf" on a supplied file name, then yes, you would write code. If you are just trying to convert a file, run the command directly.

I would play with unrtf and get its syntax correct before putting it in a script. Also, please clarify exactly what it is you are wanting.

Jeff

basically i want the user to upload an rtf file from the html form.
after that the file must be converted to html format.
since perl have power to use unrtf i want to call the perl function from php.

example

$filename = "file from html and php ";
$html = "file expected by php";
system("unrtf **html $FileName > $html_FileName" ) ;

PHP can run system applications too, there is no need to use perl. Ask on a php forum how to run system applications.

I currently have a layout that is part written in SHTML - in other words, it gets processed by the web server to execute any calls for PHP or Perl code as well as the html (and external imported HTML) in the page that is in the SHTML page. What I would like to do is convert this SHTML into PHP generated code so I can drastically cut the amount of code duplication I currently have per page, and make it easier to roll out changes - same...

Hi. I need some help converting some php to perl. $meminfo = shell_exec( "free -o" ); I need to execute "free-o" in shell and get the results. It grabs memory information about a linux webserver. If it is also possible to run a regular expression on this data that would also be great. It then outputs it in a nice format.

Hey 2gether! I'm trying to execute a PERL script on the web server when the user presses a button in an ASP.NET Web Application using Visual Basic. The most obvious solution for me seemed to be to use the 'Shell()'-command . This didn't work: Either I get an "File not found" error, or I get no error at all, but the PERL script isn't executed anyway. The strange thing is that I managed to execute a .bat file for example. Why the hell...

I am wanting to use javascript to select between different *.css files dependent on the user's browser. I am also wanting to generate the html document containing this javascript dynamically using PERL. So far, I have the javascript that does what I want to do, and it works fine as long as the the page was not generated by PERL. My problem is that when the javascript/html is generated by my PERL scripts the javascript never gets...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
