When I invoke readline() in a for loop, why does it return a series of
one-char strings, rather than the full line?
>>> for sL in sys.stdin.readline(): print sL

OK, somewhat new to C, have searched the group and haven't found an
answer that has fixed my problem, so I am just going to try posting
it.
I am taking really large image files(128x128x35) and turning them into
float, short, double, etc. files, writing them to an array in sections
(so that the machine is working w/ smaller arrays), changing or
evaluating the pixel values, and them writing them out. Doing this
before, I could only find...

I'm struggling using COPY FROM.
COPY ... FROM STDIN
expects stdin to be whatever file is being processed,
so:
$ cat data_file.txt | psql -f load_script.sql MyDB
Does not do what one would expect (and hope).

Hi all.
I'm writing a little script that operates on either stdin or a file
specified on the command line when run. I'm trying to handle the
situation where the script's run without any input gracefully but
can't think how to test for stdin.
I can test for a file argument on the command line using getopt and
validate its existence with os.path.exists. If it doesn't I can print
the useage.

I was writing a small script the other day with the following CLI
prog *
I've used getopt to parse out the possible options, so we'll ignore
that part, and assume for the rest of the discussion that args is a
list of file names (if any provided).
I used this bit of code to detect wether i want stdinput or not.
if len(args)==0:

Question:
import subprocess, StringIO
input = StringIO.StringIO("abcdefgh\nabc\n")
# I don't know of a compact, evocative, and
# cross-platform way to exhibit this behavior.
# For now, depend on cat(1).
p = subprocess.Popen(, stdout = subprocess.PIPE,
stdin = response)

I have a problem with this piece of code:
====
import sys
for line in sys.stdin:
print "You said!", line

Namely, it seems that the stdin buffers the input, so there is no reply until
a huge amount of text has bin written. The iterator returned by xreadlines

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
