Hi all!
We have the corporate website based on MS IIS 5.0. There's an ASP page for
our customers with the hyperlinks to downloadable files that are hosted on
external web server (in order to reduce corporate internet traffic). It's
demanded to dinamically show the size and the date of creation for each
hyperlinked file on this page. I found a solution know how to do it if the
files are on the same server - with the "getfile().size"...

Hi
I am running exactly the same ASP code on IIS 5.0 and IIS 6.0
I am calling Server.MapPath(), the parameter is a virtual path that includes
a reference to a parent path ("Root/Files/../Config/"). 'Config' is a
virtual directory under 'Root' which is also a virtual directory. 'Files' is
a normal folder.
Under IIS 5.0, the path is correctly mapped to the local path of the

I'm trying to understand fully Server.MapPath. I am writing an intranet for
a small company and want to be able to put some files accessible to all,
hyperlinked from the intranet and therefore, outside of the website area -
the idea being that I want staff to be able to copy files into folders that
can be accessed by hyperlinks on the intranet pages.
I've had a problem separating them from the intranet HTML and ASP pages,
which is...

Hi,
I have an ASP.NET project written in VB.NET on a server. I have made a few
changes to some files using notepad while remotely connected to the server.
How can I compile the project on the server (that doesn't have VS.NET
installed on it) so that the changes take affect?
I've tried playing around with vbc.exe but I couldn't get the parameters
right - it kept reporting missing references etc.

Hi All!
I have a ASP.NET 2.0 site that works on the Windows 2000 Server. However,
when I tried to view this site on my local Windows XP machine, I get "Server
Unavailable". If I switch the Windows XP IIS back to ASP.NET 1.1 then I get
the Configuration Error (which is understandable because I'm trying to run
an ASP.NET 2 site with 1.1 framework).
I can however view other ASP.NET 1.1 sites on my local Windows XP machine.
It's only the...

Hi All,
In our Web hosting environment we are using Virtual hosting i.e. multiple
websites are on one server and multiple domains are pointing to a single
website.
Issue: We have two domains say “www.Test1.com” and “www.Test2.com” pointing
to a single website. Website content is located onto UNCPath i.e. remote
location.
Domain 1: www.Test1.com points to \\servername\websitefolder\homedirectory

Hi all.
I develop a website that has an option to update hardware (via usb)
What is the best technology/method to communicate between the client and
server and still be safe.
The communication process includes asking the server several questions and
providing answers to it as well.
TIA

I've just upgraded our WIndows 2003 (with SBS server) web server
to .Net framework 2.0
(it had 1.1 before)
As I have been working on a web parts page on my laptop, hosting it
there, working perfectly. I want to transfer it now, so I upgraded it.
Created a new application pool for .net2.0 stuff, then used Visual
Studio 2005 from my laptop to connect to Http://Bw-online/ProjectPoint
and make a new website. Bw-online is our intranet at...

Hello all:
Most of my development for websites has been on test VPC images where VS is
installed on the server image. I now have a setup where I have a test server
joined to my domain, and a development PC also joined to the domain. On the
server I created a new website on port 99 called "dev", and then on the
development PC I tried to create a new http website using
http://testserver:99/testwebsite, however I get an error message...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development projectplanning, coding, testing, and deploymentwithout human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
