I want to put an Access database back end on a network server so that it
can be shared by several users. I plan to use the built-in Access security
to set permissions for the database but am concerned that someone could
delete the back end from the server. What I need to know is what sharing
permissions and security settings I need to apply to the back end and to
the folder it resides in.
Also, can I use the server settings to determine...

I'm developing an intranet app, and want to get the current user name for
logging purposes. I've turned off anonymous access, and turned on windows
authentication in the IIS config. The apps web.config file has
authentication mode set to windows, and 'identity impersonate' is set to
true.
When I try and get the default.aspx page, IE returns an error page with an
'Access is denied.' error. (Even if I try direct from the webserver, logged...

Hi everybody,
I need to remove access to a shared directory before to execute a
process on the directory.
And put back the access on it after the execution.
So I wanted to set the permission of the Everyone user to Deny, execute
my process, and restore the permission to Allow.
There is the NET SHARE command, but it's to create or delete a share.

Hello all,
I have searched far and wide for a solution to my issue. In short, here is the problem:
1. 3 PC's enter data into an Access 2003 database (PC's are running Vista w/ Office 2007 pro). The database has been used for a long time and we haven't upgraded it to a 2007 version database.
2. One of the PC's hosts the "master" database, the 2 others are using Replica's of "master" database. At the end of each work day, the...

I'm in way over my head with file permissions. The directory and files are sitting on a linux server. I know almost nothing about linux.
The background: I was given a web share by my IT admin. Initially, the web share had 3 users, myself (as the owner) ,root (the group) and...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
