Any good books on Perl?

Hi everyone

I'm a newbie to the world of Perl. I'm especially
interested in the web and CGI programming with Perl.

Can anyone recommend some good books or tutorial
websites about these topics?

Thanks in advance.

Best Regards,
Gary Hendricks

Which isn't certainly *not* a good start for most people.

hi, I am new to python (but not to programming - have programmed in many other languages like C++/lisp/perl etc.) and I would like to buy a good book. The local bookstore has no books about Python, so I cannot look into a book and see whether I like it. That is why I turned to this newsgroup for advise. I would like a book with a very...

An ISP I belong to uses Majordomo for their mailing list system. I'd like to encourage them to move to a system that uses a database, preferably psql which they already run on their server. Anything out there in Php?

Hi all, During my degree, BEng (Hons) Electronics and Communications Engineering, we did C programming every year, but I never kept it up, as I had no interest and didn't see the point. But now I really want to get back into it as I see a point with GNU/Linux. I want to get my old skills back and write something or help on some projects...

Hello, I have a Bachelors in CS and a Masters in Comp. Graphics. In all of my schoolwork, I used C and C++ and thought that I had a pretty good understanding of the language(s). But now, as I really am trying to find work as a C/C++ programmer, I am having trouble on programming interview tests when they start asking about low-level C stuff...

I am not a programmer by any means, but a dedicated aficionado. I have good understanding of Java and C/C++, and now I would like to learn javascript->ajax, but I don't know where to start. My HTML knowledge is basic, however, with a little bit of an effort I can program a small page. Can anyone recommend a good beginner's book on JavaScript?...

Hello! I am looking for a good hardcopy Perl book for newbies/beginners (including myself) who use Windows (not UNIX/Linux) and that isn't so old. After talking to my Linux friends who use Perl, they suggested these two: 1. http://oreilly.com/catalog/9781565923249/ (1997 though and mentions Windows NT) 2....

(I just wrote my first "Hello, world." code last night. :-D) I've always been fascinated by the world of programming but have been somewhat daunted by the cost of books and references (And my math sucks, lol.). Anybody know of any good...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. ...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For...
