Error invoking target install of makefile - installing Oracle 9.2.0.1.0 on AIX 5.3

1 New Member
I am installing Oracle 9.2.0.1.0 on AIX 5.3 , the installation goes through but the linking fails @ 63% showing error msg:

Error invoking target install of makefile
/u01/app/oracle/product/9.2.0.5/sqlplus/lib/ins_sqlplus.mk

I checked the install log and the cause is shown as:

ld: 0706-006 Cannot find or open library file: -l m
ld:open(): A file or directory in the path name does not exist.
make: 1254-004 The error code from the last command is 255.

When I do which cc , I cant find it in /usr/bin/. I installed gcc its there in /usr/bin/

What’s the best way of resolving this issue.

Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

I'm having the same problem.
If I IGNORE the link messages, it does complete and I can even create and start a database. But I do not like ignoring such messages.

When I later tried to patch to 9.2.0.8 I had more problems.

Someone on another site suggested I needed fileset bos.adt.libm
I'm waiting on my system engineer to install it for me.

# lslpp -L | grep bos.adt

Please let me know if you have any success.

Thanks!

Hello everybody, I'm trying to port a project from Windows+Cygwin to Linux(i'm working on a Debian-like: Kubuntu), but I'm facing a lot of linking problems. This project needs libraries xerces and gsl, more specifically libxerces-c, libgsl, libgslblas. The project comes with an own makefile, automatically generated by Eclipse cdt on Windows, on wich I made some change to fit it for Linux.

Having got past the 'PCC-F-NOERRFILE, unable to open error message file, facility PR2' by given 'other' read access to all the files under ${ORACLE_HOME}/precomp, I'm now stuck with this not very helpful error message. I'm trying to use some code that compiles happily with Oracle 8i, but fails with 10g. The code is for an MQ - Oracle table interface. I've updated the obvious places in the makefile to use Oracle 10 instead of 8, and...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
