Hi
I tried running ITW against one of our databases, and it came up with a
number of suggestions, but also filled the Application Log with messages
like:-

I have an SP that is big, huge, 700-800 lines.
I am not an expert but I need to figure out every possible way that
I can improve the performance speed of this SP.
In the next couple of weeks I will work on preparing SQL statements
that will create the tables, insert sample record and run the SP.
I would hope people will look at my SP and give me any hints on how
I can better write the SP.

We have an application that is based on several extended stored
procedures. When we run our application in house, or when most other
customers run it, they see performance of about X transactions per
second. One customer is seeing performance of about X/5, and I'm
having a hard time troubleshooting it. The performace bottleneck has

Hi
I'm using DB2 Connect EE V8.1.4 as a gateway, DB2 Administration Client and
DB2 z/OS V7.
With V7 of DB2 Connect/Adm.Client I use CLISCHEMA to optimize catalog
queries, but after upgrading to V8 the client change behaviour and call some
stored procedures at my DB2 z/OS (ie. SYSIBM.SQLTABLES).
But the stored procedure don't use my copy catalog tables.

Does anyone know how exactly the sub-tree cost is calculated and whether it should be used as an indication of query/stored procedure performance?

Sql performance tuning in DB2
Table Trans has multiplle records for each employee. I am updating id into lookup from trans .
Currently, it takes 3 minutes to update lookup table. Both lookup and Trans has around 1.5 million test data.
Table Trans can increase upto 1 billion. Is there any better way to increase the performance. I am using db2 udb 8.2 partitoned, aix .

I've heard 2 things recently, can I confirm if their true/false?
(1) If you have a stored procedure and you want to optimise it you can
call exec proc1,
you could also use define/set for each of the variables and copy the
code into query analyser,
this then makes it easier to tune. However the optimiser works
differently for these variables than it does for variables passed into
the query via exec and will produce a less optimal
