How do you convert a user inputted date to a unix timestamp before
insterting it into your database? I have a form, with a textfield for
a date that the user inputs in the format mm-dd-yyyy and three dropdow
boxes for hours, minutes, and AM/PM. All of these need to be considered
together and converted to one Unix Timestamp and then inserted...

I'm investigating a bug a customer has reported in our database
abstraction layer, and it's making me very unhappy.
Brief summary:
I have a database abstraction layer which is intended to mediate
between webapps and arbitrary database backends using JDBC. I am very
unwilling indeed to write special-case code for particular
databases. Our...

I have a delete statement that is not doing what I want it to do:
Delete from LOG_TABLE where (DATE(LOG_TS)) < (DATE(CURRENT_DATE)- 21
DAYS);
It is supposed to delete all records that are 21 days or older than the
current system date. Instead it is deleting all new rows. LOG_TS is a
timestamp but that should not matter since DATE...

Hi GUys,
Im trying to compare two dates in MYSQL. But its not treating the
dates as numbers, but as strings. I try using strtotime but that did
not work.
Basically, if the last comment is newer than the last user login, then

We commonly use triggers to log changes to our main tables to
historical log tables.
In the trigger, we create a concatenated string of the old values by
casting them as follows:
CAST(O.MYDATE AS CHAR(30))
When directly updating date fields in the main table, the logged value
gets saved in the format YYYY-MM-DD as expected.

Hi,
My SQL returns a NULL in a datefield if there is no date in that field.
If there is a NULL in this column, I want to replace it with spaces in
my SELECT statement when I am selecting these records. Can any of you
experts out there help me with a sample SQL.

In my database table there is a datetime column which can obviously contain a timestamp
(in the format YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS.NNN).
Now I want to get all those records which have a date of lets say 2005-02-03 regardsless of
their time value.
Ok, I could do this by statement like
SELECT * FROM MYTAB WHERE MYDATE >= '2005-02-03 00:00:00.000'...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it. ...
