We have developed two objects called "customer" and "salesrep". For
simplicity, assume that these two objects will talk directly to a
database. The database has three tables: customers, customersalesreps
(allows multiple salesreps to be associated with a customer), and
salesreps. The customer object has business rules that allow
manipulation of customer information (add,update,delete,select,etc).
The salesrep object has business rules...

Hello all,
Over the years as I design more database schemas the more I come up with
patterns in database design. The more patterns I recognize the more I
want to try to design some kind of generic design patterns that can be
used and shared amongst many sub-schemas.
For example, the grouping of entities. I may have the following tables:
employee, product and client. These tables have no direct relationship
with each other. But...

bo'jour, bo'jour,
So I have question to present to the forum about OOD. This is a Csharp
forum, but C# is the lang of choice and the question is an exercise based on
some comments by the chief designer of C#. Those of you who are junkies for
design principle might be interested in contributing to this thread.
I was recently reading some interviews with the chief engineer for C#
(formerly Mr. Delphi), and he made an interesting comment...

Hello,
Up to this point, I've been using C# to create simple applications that only use on Project to store Windows Forms and other Files. The project has been complied into an EXE. The exe file that is generated has balooned to about 500kb, which is something I don't want to happen!
Although this has approach has been ok for the small applications I've built so far I'd like to move to using the "One Solution with Multiple Projects"...

Hi,
I am new to the MVP pattern and one of the main reasons that we are going
this route is because we are doing Scrum with 30 day sprints - so we have a
continually morphing design. We are using TDD as well to improve our ability
to refactor... you probably all know this approach.
Although the user iterface is supposedly one of the last things that you
need to do, this is a web app and we have multiple nested Repeaters on the
page....

I have a question about spawning and displaying subordinate list controls
within a list control. I'm also interested in feedback about the design of
my search application. Lots of code is at the end of this message, but I
will start with an overview of the problem.
I've made a content management solution for my work with a decently
structured relational database system. The CMS stores articles. The CMS also
stores related items --...

Friends,
I'm working on some crud stuff, and I was looking for opinions on the
subject. Below, I have pasted some VERY simple sample code. Class2
is a "traditional" crud type object. In a real example, these objects
would probably implement some kind of ICrud interface with the common
methods.
I'm finding that many times, though, I want to use these objects as
simple data objects, and I don't need all the database functionallity.

Hi,
I have a question regarding best practices in database design. In a
relational database, is it wise/necessary to sometimes create tables
that are not related to other tables through a foreign Key
relationship or does this always indicate some sort of underlying
design flaw. Something that requires a re evaluation of the problem
domain?
The reason I ask is because in our application, the user can perform x

ONU (Optical Network Unit) is one of the key components for providing high-speed Internet services. Its primary function is to act as an endpoint device located at the user's premises. However, people are often confused as to whether an ONU can Work As a Router. In this blog post, we’ll explore What is ONU, What Is Router, ONU & Router’s main usage, and What is the difference between ONU and Router. Let’s take a closer look !

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
