oracle listener

I've just installed Oracle Standard on an XP Platform for demo. The listener
was not installed.

I have installed Oracle many times on 2000 server and never seen an case
where the listener was not installed.

How can I install the listener? It does not see to appear as an option to
install usising the installation tool.

Thanks

Jean

On my XP box, the installer has the listener listed in the Installed
Products section. The path you have to expand to get to it is: Oracle
Homes ==>> OraHome92 ==>> Oracle9i Database 9.2.0.1.0 ==>> Oracle9i
9.2.0.1.0 ==>> Oracle Net Listener 9.2.0.1.0. I don't think this is
Standard Edition software, but hopefully yours is in the same place. Any
chance you just missed it?

Good luck,
Chris

Using Oracle 8i enterprise on win 2000 (sp3) Installed the standard configuration & whenever I make a connection it takes about 10 secs. It's running on a P1900 with 1gb Ram so no reason there for slowness. Once I'm connected the queries work pretty much instantanously but to connect using SQLPLUS, Toad, ODBC, OLEDB all take about 10 secs. I connect using OLEDB from Visual Basic development environment & after the 1st connection...

I'm a new Oracle user. I've installed Oracle 9i on a Linux RedHat machine V9.0 and it's running. I took a Windows XP machine and installed the Oracle client on it along with PL/SQL developer from All-Around-Software. I try to connect and I get an error message ORA-12545 "Connect failed because target host or object does not exist".

I am a tester and have to regularly uninstall software and reinstall it. unfortunately Oracle does not seem to be designed to do this. I have used the uninstall facility but this does not put the computer back to how it was before I installed it. I deleted the left over files in Program files and the Oracle folder that holds the ora92 files. I also deleted mention of Oracle path under Local_machine/Software in the Registry. I tried...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
