Oracle 9i personal on Windows ME

I have downloaded and installed Oracle 9i on my Windows ME pc. The database
starts up fine and I can get in to the database using Sqlplus. I also can
access the database using Toad. I do have a few problems though. The
database configuration assistant and the net configuration won't run. I
click on them in Start/Programs/Oracle - OraHome90/Configuration and
Migration Tools and nothing seems to happen. Also I can't get the installer
to install OEM. Has anyone gotten any of these to work on Windows ME?

P.S.
Please don't flame with messages about Oracle not supporting Windows ME and
telling me I should upgrade to XP. I am not about to give Bill Gates $200 so
my printer and scanner will no longer work.

- What version 9i?
- Whaddayamean Won't run? Some info like 'I checked the task manager'
'I waited for 5 minutes' would be helpful
- Do you have the ME certified version? ;-)

Frank, please don't sell him nonsense. You *know* there is no such
thing like a certified version for ME.
To the OP: I don't know why you consider hearing the plain truth as
flaming. If you want to act like an oystrich and put your head in the
sand, go ahead. But DON'T accuse anyone of flaming. If you want to run
Oracle on an uncertified platform, it's up to you. But don't expect
anyone here to help you out.

Hi! Houston, we've got a problem: every time we're going to load the PHP extensions php_oci8.dll and php_oracle.dll with Oracle 9i Personal Edition and IIS 5 running we got an 'Access denied' for the DLLs. This is our Dev-Environment: - Windows 2000 Server SP1 - PHP 4.3.4

Does the Oracle work with Windows Server 2003 and .NET? I am trying to run an ASP.NET app and keep getting the error "System.DllNotFoundException: Unable to load DLL (OraOps9.dll)". The dll in in the Oracle bin directory and I have relaxed permissions for ASP.NET and IUSR_machinename. This worked fine on Windows XP. I have downloaded all the latest patches for the client. Am I trying to do the impossible? Do I have to revert to XP?...

We have a few developers that use Oracle 9i (9.2.0.4.0) on their personal workstations for testing purposes. Recently, weve made the decision to upgrade them to WinXP so that they are able to use some other functionalities of the OS, but we are running into a totally odd problem with Oracle. It seems that, Installing Oracle runs just fine, and our ant scripts to build the database work well...but when we reboot the computer, the database...

Using Oracle 8.1.7 Personal edition on Windows XP. I was experimenting with the DBA tools. I first of all tried to adjust the memory used by my database. Then I attempted to shutdown and restart my database. It froze mid shutdown, and I was unable to re-connect. After trying everything I could think of to restart it, I finally tried uninstalling and re-installing Oracle.I managed to trash my registry during the uninstall, and had to...

No flame wars, please! We're planning a move from a non-relational system to a relational system. Our choices have been narrowed to Oracle and DB2. Since we're moving from non-relational to relational, then we're not currently using any relational-type operators. So I expect the end result to use simple, SQL standard commands and queries. The question: At the SQL standard level is there any

One of my friends, Scott, is a consultant who doesn't currently have newsgroup access so I am asking these questions for him. I'll be telling him how to monitor the answers via Google Newsgroup searches. Scott has heard a lot of hype about DB2 and Oracle and is trying to understand the pros and cons of each product. I'm quite familiar with DB2 but have never used Oracle so I can't make any meaningful comparisons for him. He does not have...

I don't know. This redo log corruption occurred on three machines with Personal 8.0.4., in period of two days, and on every system Bugbear was detected. We have installations of PE 8.0.4. in many locations. At the end of day a procedure is started on each location. It prepares data for sending to central location. Procedure deletes "transfer" tables and inserts data into. After that we use EXP80 to export these transfer tables. Export...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
