Hi,
Upon installing Oracle 9i (9.2.0.1.0) on a Debian box, the whole install
process completes,
but when I get to the very end and it trys to setup configuration
assistants, all three fail with the following error:
"jre was not found in /ora/9iR2/oracle.swd.jre/bin/i386/native_threads/jre"
I have tried symlinking the i386 and i686 directories as has been suggested
from a search of forums..

Hi all,
for anyone interested, I've just successfully installed Oracle 9iR2
(9.2.0.4.0) on Linux Slackware 9.0 (gcc-3.2.2, kernel 2.4.20).
Actually, the installation of base release 9.2.0.1.0 produced some
relink errors, fully resolved by patchset 9.2.0.4.0.
Best regards.

Hi.
We had a PC that had Oracle Client 8.0.5 and 8.1.7 installed in Default_Home
(c:\orant) and Default_Home1 (c:\oracle).
A third party package, installed certain components of Oracle Client 9.0.2
in another Oracle Home which it called ora92 (c:\oracle\ora92).
Since we no longer need Clients 8.0.5 and 8.1.7, I decided to uninstall all
Oracle clients and install Oracle client 9.0.2. I used Oracle installer to

One of my friends, Scott, is a consultant who doesn't currently have
newsgroup access so I am asking these questions for him. I'll be telling him
how to monitor the answers via Google Newsgroup searches.
Scott has heard a lot of hype about DB2 and Oracle and is trying to
understand the pros and cons of each product. I'm quite familiar with DB2
but have never used Oracle so I can't make any meaningful comparisons for
him. He does not have...

I realize this may be too Oracle specific for this forum-- but I've
seen a fair amount of postings related to ORacle 9i's XML capabilites
so I thought I'd give it a shot.
So, I've read in Oracle's documentatino for 9iR2 that if you want to
store schema based XML documents in Oracle, you first have to register
the schema. The problem is that if you want to modify the schema, and
then subsequently re-register it Oracle will force you to...

I'm having problems with EnterpriseServices transactions running
against Oracle 9iR2.
I am inconsistently getting Oracle ORA-24761: Transaction Rolled Back
results mid-transaction. If I start the transaction and run it against
an object it might fail. If I rerun the same transaction again it
might work. But on trying again it might fail.
If I disable transactions <Transaction(TransactionOption.Disabled)>
the app runs and all the data...

I have two Oracle Homes (9iR2 & 10g R2) installed on Windows Server 2003. I have jobs running on my 9i database for backup and they are now failing because the default home is now10g as that was installed last. I need a command which will switch my Oracle Home to 9i so I can run these jobs. I can use the Universal Installer to change homes, but I need a batch command so I do not need to do so manually. I have tried ohsel -switch "Oracle Home...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
