Terminology question: Is there a term for a set of records related directly or indirectly by key value in several tables? For example, a single invoice record and its line item records -or- a single customer, the customer's orders, the order lines for those orders, the customer's invoices, and the invoice lines for those invoices. I'm thinking the term might be graph, but I'm not at all certain of this.

1. CSS has five generic font family specifiers: serif, sans-serif, cursive, fantasy, monospace. IE lets the users select a default proportional font and a default monospace font. Is there any way in IE for a user to indicate more specifically what his preferred fonts are for serif and sans-serif, respectively (at least, if not cursive and fantasy as well)? Do other browsers allow a default font to be specified for all five of these generic...

Hello all: I have a few questions regarding ADO.NET data access: 1. I have a DataSet that gets populated w/several tables, but I would like to display a certain column in one of those tables by pulling the related records from another table. To put this clearer I have two tables in a database, one w/shipping info and one w/drivers. They are related by a driver id in each one. But how do I display

Helo experts, I'm working on my first ever web application and I have some basic questions related to servlets if I may, I have 5-6 Java statements and preparedstatements in my servlet to execute a number of MySQL queries for different tables, do I need to open a new connection to the database for each query or can I just create one connection and use it for all the queries? Also, if I'm using a preparedstatement and resultset for a...

I am using Access 2003. (I am also using ADO in the vast majority of my code. I recently read a post that indicated that ADO is not all that is was initially cracked up to be. In the back of my mind I am wonder if this is causing my problem, but I don’t want to go through the work to convert to DAO unless I know it is truly in my best interest.) I am having problems getting a requery to show up consistently on a couple of forms. I have...

Hello, My new semester has started and I have a subject named DBMS (Database Management System). This is the first time I'm studying databases and so I'm not feeling very enthusiastic about databases (partly because I already had learnt C/C++ and I feel that programming is a lot easier that DBMS). Nevertheless, I must learn at least one DBMS as it is part of my college course. I'm confused and I want some suggestions: Que-1: There are a...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
