MS ODBC driver for oracle

2 New Member
Has anybody managed to get the OS authentication to work with Microsoft ODBC driver for Oracle? I have link tables in MS Access database that are linked to an Oracle database. ODBC connection has been set up using the microsoft ODBC administrator, and UID is "/" and PWD is "" is set in the registry. But when opening the link table in Access, a login prompt appears.

I have no such problems using the Oracle ODBC driver.

Does anybody have any ideas or suggestions?

Just wondering why you're not using the Oracle ODBC driver.

Performance of the Oracle driver is much slower (factor of 10) then the MS driver.

OK, I had a problem that I've now fixed but I can't really understand what was causing it in the first place. I have an intranet site that uses basic authentication to allow users to view and update information from an Oracle DB (ver 8.1.6 -- ancient, I know). Anyway, the site worked fine as long as the machine accessing the ASP page was running Win 2k but when an XP machine tried to view the page, the client got an error: Microsoft...

In an Access97 application I fetch data from an Oracle database via a linked table (via Odbc/sqlnet). The Oracle database now upgrades from 7.3 to 8.0. The Oracle odbc driver I use (2.0.3.1, supplied with 7.3) always worked fine on all Nt4 workstations. Now with the 8.0 db an odbc error occurs when the db is contacted: {ODBC Oracle Driver]ORA-01034: ORACLE not available. (#1034) SQLSetConnectAttr of the device driver had failed. On a...

Hi, I created a linked server for MS SQL Server 2005 Express to an Oracle database using the OLE DB Provider for ODBC. My ODBC Source uses the Microsoft ODBC for Oracle driver. I'm using the OLE DB Provider for ODBC instead of the Oracle OLE DB providers because those don't handle Oracle's Numeric Data Type well. When I set this up yesterday it worked fine. However I log in today and attempt to run sp_tables_exec against my linked...

Hi all, I am having trouble getting linked Oracle 9 server in MS SQL Server 2005 Express to work properly. My machine is running Windows XP. The Microsoft and Oracle OLE DB Providers have problems dealing with Oracle's Numeric Data Type, so I decided to use Microsoft's OLE DB for ODBC Provider and an Oracle ODBC source. When using the Microsoft ODBC for Oracle Driver in my ODBC source I have inconsistent behavior. Sometimes my queries...

I'm having trouble making an ODBC connection using VB.NET 2005. I have tried nearly every connection string found on connectionstrings.com, in almost every format I can think of. I have tried both of the following drivers, as well. Oracle ODBC Driver (version 8.01.05.00) Microsoft ODBC for Oracle Basically, I end up with the same generic error no matter what I try. Here's my code. Try

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
