I agree the question is not that clear.

But why would you ever need to disable a PRIMARY KEY constraint to delete data from the table. this makes no sense to me.

I want to be able to generate SQL statements that will go through a list of data, effectively row by row, enquire on the database if this exists in the selected table- If it exists, then the colums must be UPDATED, if not, they must be INSERTED. Logically then, I would like to SELECT * FROM <TABLE> WHERE ....<Values entered here>, and then IF FOUND UPDATE <TABLE> SET .... <Values entered here> ELSE INSERT INTO <TABLE> VALUES <Values...

Hi, I'm writing a program in Visual C# 2005 Professional Edition. This program connects to a SQL Server 2005 database called "Generations" (in which there is only one table, called "Generations"), and it allows the user to add, edit and delete the various records of the table. "Generations" table has the following fields: "IDPerson", NamePerson", "AgePerson" and "IDParent". A record contains the information about a person (his name, his...

I am using VS2005. I created a Windows Appication project. Inside the Server Explorer, I created a new SQLExpress database, and then created a new table. I added the rows, making my first row an integer, and setting the identity property to true. I set that row to be my primary key. I then added a dataset, and added my table to the dataset. When I configure the table, I have no Update or Delete commands, even though the wizard has the...

Hi All, I am about to make some changes to a process we have. The new process will have a new table who's job it is to store temporarily data such as customer, clerkno, productno, storeno , amount, time. On a new request from a front-end i will select against the primary keys to ensure no other request for the same data has been made. This is then sent to a backend system asynchronously if there is no match. I will otherwise send a...

I want to add a primary key to a table with some duplicates and I have to get rid of them first, keeping the first row from each duplication case. Say I found a case of duplication where there are 5 rows with t1.id=3. Other columns may be identical or not (I cannot count on it). I'm looking for something like delete top (5) * from t1 where not exists (select top (1) * from t1 where t1.id=3) I'm looking for a solution that will not...

I am trying to do all my DB access through LINQ. For example, I am trying to delete a record from the JobQueue table. There’s a couple ways I could do this: 1. Method 1 – The disadvantage is that it makes 2 calls to the DB: one to get the record and then one to delete it: using (LogicDataContext ctx = new LogicDataContext(m_strConnect)) { JobQueue jq = ctx.JobQueues.Single(queue =queue.JobQueueNo ==

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
