Displyaing Datatypes in SQL query?

1 New Member
How do I modify a Oracle SQL Plus query to show datatypes in the output? I know that you can use DESCRIBE on a table, but how can one show the datatype for a outputted field in a simple SELECT statement?

Many thanks for your help in advance!

You Can use following query to get the datatype of the table columns.

"SELECT column_name, data_type FROM ALL_TAB_COLUMNS WHERE TABLE_NAME = 'TABLE_NAME'"

"Decimal Number" sometimes serves to distinguish Base 10 numbers, eg "15", from Base 2 numbers, Eg "1111". At other times "Decimal Number" serves to...

In an Access 97 (and 2000) database that has linked tables to Oracle which is showing some fields as text when they are numbers in Oracle. In Oracle they are specified to a size e.g. Number(38). This is causing some issues when trying join different tables in a query. How can the correct datatype be defined in Access?

I'm trying to use an if statement to write out string.empty but it doesn't want to allow the different datatype.. The currency amounts are stored as number in the db... How can I accomplish this?
