am using win2k adv serv, iis5.0
this works
Driver={Microsoft Access Driver
(*.mdb)};//111.222.333.444/ShareName/PathToDatabase/MyDB.mdb; Uid=;Pwd="
but this does not
Driver={Microsoft Access Driver
(*.mdb)};//domain.name/ShareName/PathToDatabase/MyDB.mdb; Uid=;Pwd="
the share and path somehow need to be different when using domain name vs
public ip, the domain name is ok for web pages, ping, etc

Hello everybody..
Is there a way to fix the SQL Server 2000 installation when the Server after
the server has been disjoined form its old domain and added to a new domain
with a different computer name too?
Sounds like a joke, but stuff happens.
TIA

Suppose I register a domain name, MyDomain.com, through register.com (or any
other of the many domain name registrars).
I own the domain name. The domain name goes into the global DNS database.
As the facilitator in this process, exactly what does the registrar *own*
with respect to my specific domain name and/or the registration process?
Briefly, what role does InterNIC play in all of this?

Not a dotnet question yet, although the site will be dotnet.
Anyway, I have a cable modem and dynamic (although pretty static) IP
address. How can I use a domain name if the real ip can change? I see
things like NO-IP.com which seems to offer this service for free. Is
this the recommended approach?

Can you change the domain name in an HTTPModule? I have seen examples
of changing the relative url in an HTTP Module, such as the following:
protected void AuthenticateRequest(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
HttpApplication app = (HttpApplication) sender;
HttpContext objContext = (HttpContext) app.Context;
objContext.RewritePath("mynewpage.aspx");
}
However, I'd like to take a request from

I use two test servers and one production. I have a Utilities class
that holds many of the links used through the site. One of the
variables in this class is assigned the domain name. I need to
automatically set this value depending on the server I'm on. The
domain can be similar to any of the following depending on the server:
- abc.com
- 190.168.2.100
- 190.168.2.109

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
