For many years we've used GMail flawlessy. It has become an integral tool to how we run our business. Today we got to notice the first very noticable bug that had some wide and drastic consequences.
So what's all this ruckus about?
- Replies to emails are showing up blank in the recipeints inbox
It wouldn't be a bad thing, except I happen to be the go to guy for most of the projects that happen in our offices.
- The issue has been acknowledged in this GMAIL groups thread: replies arrive as blank emails
Solution: According to "Gmail Guide Blue" use the direct "Reply" button and not the "Quick Reply" button.
The humor in all this is that they found a way to blame MSFT by blaming it on IE7.
Some of the various funny response i've gotten through out the day due to this hiccup:
- Umm, . . . . dude are you going to make me go back to 1995 and use a phone to call you . . . . learn how to email
- My deceased grandma (god rest her soul) emails better than you . . . don't send blank emails again or you will meet her soon
- Hello this is Rein from DELL, we were wondering if there was anything going on, we keep getting blank emails from you.
- Are we still on for the weekened . . . . i can't read your mind . . . use words next time . . . sweetheart
- Sysadmin: Hahaha, i bet you like FREE e-mail now . . . don't you. Told you we should go with our own e-mail servers.
- Neil, It really helps when you use words when you are trying to tell us something.
- Hey bud, i'm not getting any text in your responses. Something must be wrong with hotmail.
