I have a database split into front-end, back-end, on a machine running
Windows XP professional (no network, just a single machine). I just
upgraded the database from Access 97 to Access 2000. The machine has 3
users logging into the machine, one of which is the Administrator.
In addition, I have activated the Access security, with the same 3 users (I
won't get into why now - it's a long story).
When I am logged into Windows XP with...

I have a small vb webform app that imports some txt files into an access db.
I want to be able to install this app several times on a single machine with each instance importing to different copys of the access file.
When I try to install a second version of the app into a new directory I get a message like "You must uninstall the current version first"...
Is there a way to allow multiple installs of the same app on an xp machine?
Thanks :)

I've been asked run a VM on my development machine, with Windows Server 2003
installed. I've also been asked to then develop against this environment
from the host machine, using Visual Studio 2003.
Questions:
1. Is it even possible to use VS 2003 to develop when all files and IIS are
on a remote machine or VM?

(or virtualization if you aint from round here)
Hey,
Just looking for some advice really. I can see a big advantage of virtualising servers. But suppose I have a server that needs basically all the resources of the machine, what would be any disadvantages of virtualising just the one server onto the machine its on already. Im thinking particularly so the hard disk can be easily backed up and restored somewhere else should the machine...

I need a way to uniquely identify the machine, IP Address or user that called a web service. We are attempting to loosely integrate
two applications where both apps, running on a single machine, will call a web service to communicate a few simple tokens. The
problem is that there can be multiple users on different PC's using the system and I need to save the source of the token so that it
is picked up by the correct machine.
One of the...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
