This may sound bit silly; but i really don't know how do we insert some hyperlink(URL) which gets open when clicked on it ;in any word document or pdf or on any social networking sites; where people normally write check this link:.. in general anywhere.

It depends on the site. Usually word will auto-create links. I don't know how to do them in PDF's, but generally there is a 'markup' required either by character flags, or through a link (like in the reply box here, the globe with the sideways 8 character). It depends on what you're doing.

Hi There, Being quite new to MS-SQL I would like to ask if there is a general opinion of what approach should be taken to storing things like external documents and images in databases. Should the actual files be stored within the database, or instead should links to the files on a file server or something similar be stored instead. For the end user I imagine it is easier to have everything stored within the

What's Nielsen talking about in http://www.useit.com/alertbox/20040503.html http://www.useit.com/alertbox/20040510.html Can't a good browser keep track of visited vs. unvisited link colors? Is my site deficient as I have not messed with link colors? Does Nielsen address why all this can't be left up to the browser? Are link colors supposed to be special, like background images, to make a big impression?

Right now I'm using document.write("<script language='javascript' src='jsFile" + i + ".js'></script>"); It works -- I have a lot of data in each file and only want the visitor to have to download the necessary file. Is there a better way to do this? Just curious because the page doesn't validate in HTML validators.

Ok.. here's my situation. I have a program that handles a database full of people. Users of the program have the ability to send out notifications to these people. Pretty standard notifications, the program tracks when notifications are sent out and who sends them. Currently these notifications are all sent via email. Now the program users also want the ability to send these notifications via standard snail mail. (I'll make a popup...

Hello, I'm working on some link styles for this page: http://www.house.gov/velazquez/lh0205tres/reports.html I want all the links to always display in red (#CC0000), but in IE6 and 7 they display in gray. In FF and Opera they work fine. I've looked all over the code and can't find what might be causing this. Is it an IE quirk I don't know about? Thanks,

I want to find out whether the following usage of the "Bookmark" link type is o.k. An example could be seen at <http://www.geocities.com/stanio/more/horoskop.html>. The text is in Bulgarian and is some kind of entertaining poetical horoscope. I've used <LINK rel="Bookmark"to create a meta-TOC for the document. Reading the definition of the "Bookmark" link type in the HTML spec I haven't actually got if I'm using it correctly. ...

I am in the process of converting all HTML documents, including many dynamic/interactive documents, to XHTML documents (because I want to incorporate SVG and MathML, among other things). I am having a problem converting document.write() statements which are not allowed in XHTML documents to statements which create the DOM nodes/elements dynamically within script elements.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
