a preferred DNS Server is the hostg computer who gives you IP address, or
if your are trying to connect to whatever services a computer provides, this should be the Static ipaddress of that computer,.

I am sorry but that is incorrect. The DNS does not hand out IP addresses it is the DHCP!

And to answer the question the DNS is a service that resides on a Server that tells client computers what the name is that associates with a IP and more. The preferred DNS is where the client will look to first for the name resolution.

The default gateway is a device that takes clients out of the internal network. For example the client computer looks to the default gateway to get to the internet. (in very basic terminoligy for you)

The message is "This action cannot be completed because the other program is busy. Choose 'Switch to' to activate the busy program and correct the problem." I don't know why this is displayed. I would prefer to disable the display of this message if possible. My app needs to be able to...

My employer has provided me with the SQL Server 2000 Personal disk from the SQL Server 2000 Enterprise kit as this is reported here on the MSDN web site to be the version that is supported on Windows XP. In fact so many of you kind people confess to having succeeded in doing it. I have tried...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
