Can't print from XP Pro to printer on Vista network

4 New Member
I have two PCs running XP Pro, which are networked to a Vista Ultimate PC. The network works fine in both directions, but I am unable to print from the XP machines to my Canon Pixma MX700 printer, which is connected to the Vista PC via a local USB cable. Setting up the networking was problematic, but I finally got it working by setting up guest user accounts on all shared folders on the Vista PC. What do I need to do to network the printer?

Have you made the Printer a Shared Printer? It explains how to do so here. You can even watch a video to learn how to do it! :-D

Yes, the printer is shared already.

Yes, the printer is shared already.
And (just guessing right now), do the guest accounts on the Vista PC have the right to access this printer?

Yes, guest priveleges are correct. When I try to print a test page from either of the networked XP computers, it says "Document failed to print: printer not responding," but it prints just fine on the Vista computer connected to the printer.

I'm working with a database developed by an untrained person over several years - and on a network that has recently been upgraded with a new server installed and MS office upgraded from 2K (I think - it might have been XP) to 2003. The database is impressive, both in what it does and the obtuse and inconsistent ways it works. There are several hundred queries, for example, with no indication of where they are used or if they are in fact...

I"m trying to network my Mac G5, running OSX 10.4.7 Tiger, a PC laptop running Windows 2000, and an HP Laserjet 4500, with a Linksys Wireless-G router. All are set up with network cords running to the router. The router is working since I can access the internet on both computers. I followed the...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
