Hi There,
my vb app can open files. Well, actually my vb app launches word or excell
to open them.
These files are shared in a network.
If somebody else has allready opened that file, you must get a requester
that says the file is temporarily unavaillable because it is edited somewere
else.

Buttons don't work if form is opened on startup
A2k
If 'frmMain' is set to open by default at startup none of the buttons
work.
If 'frmMain' is opened from the database window then all the buttons
work.
The form's name ('frmMain') is selected from in the Startup dialog
box.

I've been troubleshooting for a friend's charity. She wants their
database accessible from both their PCs (I'll call them A & B), which
are on a local network, both running A2K on Windows 98.
I manually split the DB into a front & back end, and placed the backend
in a shared folder on computer A. Made sure the shared folder was set
to "full access." Computer A can open everything just fine.
Next I copied the frontend to computer B and...

I am working on an issue where and ASP.NET web application on one computer
(A) needs to access files on a network mapped drive (B).
This application uses as DSN on (A) that maps a proprietory ODBC driver to
data on a (B). The DSN directory path points to mapped network drive
mounted on (A).
When the ASP.NET application reaches the point where the ODBC drive is
called to fill a DataSet it throws the following exeption:

We have an ASP.NET 2.0 web application running on a Windows 2003 domain
controller. Part of that application needs to read and write files from and
to a network share ( living on a MAC Xserveraid) on the same network segment.
I mapped a drive on the server to that share. When mapping the drive, I
could enter access credentials for the shares (an account from the Mac side
that does not exist in the windows domain). Using Windows Explorer,...

How do I programmatically copy files across a network (from a local
workstation to another local workstation on the network) using visual basic
2005?
In other words, when in explorer and you enter a unc path to a network
workstation, you are prompted with a dialog box asking for the user name and
password that has access rights to that computer. After validating, you can
access the files on the remote pc just like you can on your own pc,...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
