It's not always possible. You can use a server side language for trying to determine where someone is connecting to your computer from but that works only when they are connected to your computer (say when they are opening a web page on your computer). But even then there's a lot of things that can make you get an incorrect result.

Hi sunsaan,

Why do you want your friends ip address ? - there may be a better way to achieve what you are trying to do..

If she is on a corporate network or behind a firewall you would not be able to access her machine without configuring ports on the firewall etc.

If she is on a home network and can control her firewall you just need to ask her to give you her WAN IP address which will be detailed in the configuration screen for her internet router / firewall.

Hope that helps

I created an ASP.NET web application. I added a TextBox and a RequiredFieldValidator control, and set the ControlToValidate property of RequiredFieldValidator control to be TextBox1. After I built and run the application, it pops up an error dialog as follows: unable to find script library '/aspnet_client/system_web/1_1_4322/WebUIValidation.js'. Try placing this file manually, or reinstall by running 'aspnet_regiis -c' any ideas??...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
