Enterprise development seminars?

ben
I'm the senior architect at a medium sized hedge fund and we've been
developing systems using dotnet since the 1.0 days. We have recently
begun our migration to 2.0 and to Team Server but I sense that some of
the practices that we've implemented throughout the years were
incorrect.

For instance, we structure our VSS as such:
Company
Company-Solution
Company-Solution-[Version] (i.e. version could be 1.0.1)
Company-Solution-Development
The [Version] or Development "Folders" hold all of the projects for
that solution. Let's call these "Project" folders. These each are
subdivided as such:
[Version]-bin
[Version]-scripts
[Version]-refs
[Version]-[Project1]
[Version]-[Project2]
[Version]-[Project3]

etc...

Where all of these are being stored in source safe.
The bin folder holds the output files. We keep these in source safe so
that other solutions can then "share" them into their refs directories.
Then when your run "Get Latest" you get the latest versions of all of
the binary assemblies that you want to reference. Using pinning you can
also keep one application linked to an old version of a library if you
really need to.

I feel like that what we've set up is way too complicated. It requires
that we have scripts for each solution to manage pushing new versions
to sourcesafe when we deploy and in general the whole thing seems like
a kluge.

Now if you've gotten down to this part, you're the type of person I
want to talk to. I'm looking for people or recommendations on who to
talk to regarding enterprise development. Has anyone ever brought in a
MS consultant? Was it worth it?
