Assuming your consumer is able to authenticate properly (or is able to
access your web service anonymously) and any required proxy configuration is
performed then your consumer is able to directly call your ASMX page.

Thanks a lot, John. So the client can use my asmx directly without any
issues, right?

Hello there,
I am new to web-services and so kindly excuse me for this silly basic
question.
I am writing a web service which wraps a VB COM DLL. Do I need to make
an UDDI entry when my client clearly knows me and will access me
through a firewall? Do I need to maintain a local UDDI which nobody
else need to know.
In general, UDDI is not required for web services.
