Unable to build folder named <folder name>

I have the following directory structure:

\images
\other_images\images

There is duplicate names, but at diferent levels. But the Visual Studio
Setup Project emits the error:

Unable to build folder named images.

How to build the Setup Project without having to change my directory
structure ( and chage a lot of image references in the entire project ) ?

Hi Lucas,

Thanks for posting. It seems that I cannot reproduce the problem on my
side. If you create a simplest Setup Project and add some duplicate name
folders, do you have this problem?

Hi Felix,

The directory structure was already created. In the the setup project I just
added the project output. When I build the setup project the system emits the
error in the output window. I do not add manually in the setup project the
dir structure.

Thanks for any help.

Lucas.

Hi Lucas,

I have tried creating a new Web Application and add the duplicate name
folders to the Web Application. Then I add the Primary Output and Content
of the Web Application to a Web Setup project.

I still cannot reproduce the problem. There should be something specific
with your project. If you create a new project from scratch, do you have
this problem?

Hi,
I was looking for an answer to this myself and I think I stumbled
across a solution while reading threads like this!

For me, it seemed that it was EMPTY folders causing this problem.

e.g. if I have:

root\images
root\images\moreimages
root\somewhereelse\images

....and "root\images" contained no FILES (even though it does contain a
subfolder "moreimages") - then I got the error! My quick fix was to
add an empty text file to the "root\images" folder and the problem
went away! Not pretty but hey!

Hope this helps.

I have the same issue as lucas describes...

I have the following directory structure:

\images
\other_images\images

And I receive the same error message - unable to build folder named 'images'

Both images folders contain files so the solution described by John Wallace
does not apply here.

Does anyone else have any ideas about what is going on here?

Sincerely,

Danny
