Error in New Installation

Hi All

I have just reinstalled VStudio.Net (VB.Net) and the .Net Framewor
and I can successfully open an existing project for editin
'UserControlSample'

When I try to create a new project (either Windows or Web) I get th
following error

A dynamic link library (DLL) initialization routine failed.
------

The New application only has the 'References' node in the Solutio
Explorer

If, once I click past this error, I try to add any objects I get th
highly descriptive error

Since doing the initial 3 installations I have spoken to Microsoft Support and have had a no satisfaction. We scanned the DLLs being accessed with FileMon.exe a freeware utility and ensured that all the files were available and registered. This didn't work. I then uninstalled the VS.Net and the .Net application framework again and this time deleted their install directories. I then cleaned out all temp directories and re installed the .Net framework with no errors and the VS.Net with no errors.

I Still can't actually create a new project or add any objects to an existing project I get the same
'A Dynamic Link Library (DLL) Initialization Routine Failed)' - When creating a new projects
and
'Unknown error' when adding a form to an existing project (ie a sample project - either winforms or webforms or anything

It is hard to hit a home run with .Net when you can't even get into the ball park

This is the standard edition running on Windows 2K pro with all the service packs installed

After talking to Peter at Microsoft for about 3 days, we found that
the scripting host wasn't the latest version (or possibly was corrupt)
so downloaded the latest version

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en

alternately goto download.microsoft.com and seach for 'wsh' in the
keywords section.

Install this and problem is solved.
