The designer could not be shown for this file

VS.Net 2003
Win2k Terminal Server SP4

When a create a new ASP.Net web service and try to open
the web service code behind class in the designer by
double clicking in Solution Explorer, I get this task item:

The designer could not be shown for this file because none
of the classes within it can be designed.

This does not always happen but I can't seem to figure out
how to workaround this problem. Please help.

Thanks

Hello Manmohan,

Thanks for your post. As I understand, the problem you are facing is that
you fail to view code of a web service. Please correct me if there is any
misunderstanding. I did some research, however, I did not find any known
issue of this problem. I think more information is needed before moving
forward:

1. Does this problem occurs to all projects or a specific project? I
recommend you create a new web service project and see if it works.

2. Please right-click the design view of web service, select "View Code"
and check it is able to reproduce the problem.

3. I suggest that you can restart the system into Windows 2000 Safe-Mode
and see if the problem still occurs.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Have a nice day!

BTW, in the future, it would be best to post these questions in the
following newsgroup.

Hi,

The problem is that I fail to open a VC WebService in the
designer using VS.Net 2003. It does not happen always so
it is an intermittent problem. I can build the web service
and run it without problems. It also starts to load
correctly after I quit devenv and restart it and then
reload the project.

Hi Manmohan,

Thanks for your information. After further investigation, however, I did
find any related issue and I am not able to reproduce the problem on my
side.

Since this an intermittent problem, I suspect that it may be caused by some
third-pary applications or services (say, Anti-Virus). If you have any
anti-virus application installed, I suggest that you can disable its
realtime monitor functionality (and stop/close unnecessary service/app) to
check whether the problem still exists.

I am standing by for your response.

Have a nice day!
