Trying to Update a SQL Server View

I'm getting the following message when I try to add or update a view in
asp.net web form. Any suggestions?

I get two errors, one if I try and update and another
one if I try and add a new record.

Update error:

Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

the add error is different, and I am working on that
now. Not sure if it is caused by the same problem.
