.net core 5

2 New Member
hello,

can you suggest to study and adopt .net core 5 for Windows desktop applications? Or it is too early? Technical advantages against WPF? Speed, size, object oriented model?

Thanks

hello, i'm writing a c program on a linux system. i'm debugging a segmentation fault but i don't want it to dump a core file because the memory footprint of the program is over 300Mb and i don't need it to generate a 300Mb file every time I add a new printf statement to debug the code. can i do something to prevent it from dumping the core file even when it seg faults? (is this a unix/linux thing, or a c thing?) thanks!

Hi, Is there a reason why we have to pay more for licensing for a different kind of processor? Why are we not charged for the Hyperthreading on some processors also. If Oracle is really conserned about the low end business market (small and medium), then they should drop their attitude on Dual Core processors.

Hi all, Using C#, I've created a simple wrapper class for using Excel. I have Office Pro 2003 installed on my devel machine. The wrapper class works great, reading and writing to/from Excel. To do this, I created a reference to "Microsoft Excel 11.0 Object Library", and have a "using Excel;" directive. I decided to add a method for creating a TextBox using the Shapes.AddTextBox method, which requires a

I compiled a game client and it crashed (segmentation fault) resulting in a core file being generated. I'm trying to find out exactly what caused it to crash. Any ideas how I can do this with gdb? In the Makefile can I just add a "-g" flag to have the binary produced with debugging symbols? The source is written in ANSI C. This is what I have now: "CC = gcc" The client binary is 433680 and the core file produced when it crashed

To continue some ideas of "C++ Archeology: Limits of OO paradigm", i want to ask about C++ development. There are C++ compilers, that has been written in old good C. Are C or pascal perfect languages that can be used to build any powerful OO language with mutable source representation, as C++ could be? Obviously no. Is current C++ can be used to build the OO language? Obviously no, because unfortunatelly C++ simultaneously is...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
