I have recently installed Visual Studio .Net 2003 Professional. I have written my own source control provider which supports the Microsoft SCC API. I wrote it using MS Visual C/C++ 6.0 ( which apparently doesn't support using source control ) and PowerBuilder. It works perfectly with PowerBuilder but I am having trouble getting VS .Net to connect. When I choose the menu option 'Add Solution to Source Control' I get this error:

Our first real production experience with Source Control came a year ago when we started to cooperate in software development with two other outsourcing companies – one of them is located in Europe. Since Visual SourceSafe and similar tools at the time could be used only in the intranet environment, we started with task assignment and sharing files through e-mails, trying to organize distributed development and keep synchronization of...

Hi, I'm not sure if this is truly a C++ question, but it's something that has only come up now that I'm working in a C++ environment. Essetnially, what has happened is that I've come in to a new job where there has been no form of source control and been asked to co-ordinate the implementation of one. I was nice and comforable with the task until I found out about a practice that wasn't used in my previous C programming job.

Hi All, We are hoping to setup source control for our Access XP development. We don't want to use Visual SourceSafe because (a) we often work remotely and (b) we hear bad things about SourceSafe. Are there any alternatives to SourceSafe? I have been looking into Vault, Subversion and Perforce, but nobody seems to support source control in Access.

Hi, Some consultant has developed ASP .NET project under source control. Now I have to maintain/modify them, they had associated it with "god knows what" control and I am not able to even open the solution. Could someone please tell me how to change the source control properties, so that i can work with the application. it always gives me "Server Binding" and "connection status invalid"

I'm using subversion. But I guess this is not important for the issue. So which files of a VB project should be (at least) under source control? Or which ones definitly not? I know from VB6 projects that there are a lot of unimportant files (vbw, exe, obj, ...) . But I don't know which of the VB-VS2005 files are similar. So can anyone give me some hints please? So far I have the following files: ..resx ..exe

Does anyone out there have a simple source control tool that I can use on my PC here at work? My employer does not want to foot the bill for that, saying I can always make a backup in another folder, but I always forget. CVS is good, but it takes a lot of work to get it set up. What would be perfect would be an add-on for Visual Studio that saves all my data, right where I keep it, with an extra folder of changes that I can backup to...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
