Does anyone know if you can use the Configuration Management Application
Block (CMAB) for app.config files? Or do those particular .config files need
to be XML and in a specific format?
Going to use the CMAB for my application preferences file (where I save the
user preferences such as last screen location, size, etc) but was wondering
if it also can be used for app.config files....

thread more recent than about 18 months and was interested in what
conclusions people had come to recently.
Invariably 3 advantages of XML config files are promoted;
1. The .NET framework provides built-in support for reading
application configuration data from .config files very easily

I am developing a set of assemblies which will be shared by many
applications and so I intended to place them in the GAC at runtime.
However, these assemblies have associated configuration files that
they load. The config files arespecific to the assemblies, not the
consuming applications.

I would like to have several config files corresponding to multiple
envirronment (Database, local Machine, Application, User...) and overloads
each, in order to have, by the way, one config.
So I would like to load a config file (app.config) at startup (as usual),

Ok, I wanted to ask this separate from nospam's ridiculous thread in hopes
it could get some honest attention.
VB6 had a some simple and fast mechanisms for retrieving values from basic
text files, which in turn could be simply and easily maintained with
notepad.
I understand the benefits of XML, really, but in the case of configuration
files it seems it is almost always nothing more than unnecessary complexity,
both in accessing them...

Hi All,
I have a solution which consists of multiple projects and each of these
projects has their own app.config file. The problem is that all of my
projects in the solution pull keys from the app.config file from the main
project (my start-up project). My question is can each project look for its
keys in its own config file first? Is there something or settings that
missing here? Would some one give me a hand?

The Problem:
I want to be able to use an assembly of an independant application
which is not strong named from within an SSIS script component. I have

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
