Microsoft Access Combining fields

10 New Member
So I have a table in Microsoft Access with mostly employees information.Emp loyees' name are separated into two fields..last name and first name. I was wondering if there's a way to have a field in the same table that combined both First Name and Last Name together(like in excel). I know that you can do it in a query but it's just would be a repeat of the same table with the combined First and Last Name only.

Thanks for your help.

I was hoping that Microsoft Access 2002 would allow users to see all the columns of an Oracle database table that contained more than 255 columns. I noticed that my Oracle8 ODBC driver is only at 8.1.6.0.0 for win95, win98 and winNT. If I upgraded my ODBC driver would Access be able to recognize the columns beyond the 255th column? or is this an Access limitation? Please don't lecture me about good table design and recommend splitting...

I am trying to make the move from Approach to Microsoft Access and am having real problems with developing forms? Would someone please describe the Access concept of developing forms using different tables. Whenever I try to set up a subform it puts it in a dataview form and I can't seem to be able to move the fields around. In Approach you can add and move fields around from all the different db's you have created. Access uses tables...

Hi, I'm new to Microsoft Access today, so this is probably a very basic question for all you clever people out there. Anyone know how I copy down a column in Microsoft Access? It doesn't seem to have the same functionality as Excel, i.e. I can't just write in one cell and then drag this down or highlight a whole column and have the contents of that cell reappear in every cell I've highlighted. heeeeelp........

Any help appreciated with this problem -- I have a Microsoft Access 2002 application. The Access mdb has a refence to DAO 3.6 (not ADO). A form is bound to a linked table in a second mdb. In the AfterUpdate event method of a text box, after a SaveRecord, a method is called which is in a GlobalMultiuse class in an ActiveX code component that I compiled in VB6. In this method, a DAO recordset is opened on the same record in the same...

I have a Start Date field and a End date field in one of my tables. I have a report that I created and I want to combine the two fields into one so that it reads as follows: 01/01/2010 to 12/31/2010 This is the expression I'm using: = & " to " & + The problem is, for those records with no data values the word "to" is showing up in the field and I want the field to remain blank if the field is empty.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
