In the OpenFileDialog the files list doesn't show up

1 New Member
For a basic application developed in VB.NET, I used the OpenFileDialog to browse and select a file.

For some unknown reason, I'm unable to get the auto-populate file list work on Windows XP SP 3 (as shown in the attached image), it works fine on my Windows 7 64bit computer and my co-workers Windows XP computer. The problem is specific to one PC.

I know it's a Windows XP issue but I didn't have much luck in finding any relevant solution on the Web.

Has anyone come across this problem.

That should be the history of your past selections.
Could be a windows setting that clears/disables MRU lists.

Hmm, I guess it could be the autocomplete, in XP I had to have MS Office installed to turn on the inline-autocomplete, but there might just be registry setting that enables it.

Just downloaded and installed the latest Cygwin distribution which includes python 2.3.4. IDLE runs fine but for some reason the toolbar menu doesn't show up. Like, by default, it starts shell window, but no toolbar. If I type idle foobar.py it brings both shell and editor windows, but once again, no toolbar on either window -- which renders the edtior quite disfunctional.

I'm using Visual Studio .NET to make a C++ DirectX application. My problem is that sometimes when I hit RUN, the application begin loading but doesn't show on the desktop, almost as if I had set the Visible attribute to False. It isn't the code because to make it show all I have to do is hit STOP and RUN again and most probably it will run fine, without changing a single line of code. Has anyone encountered a similar problem? Btw, I...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
