I am working to ease updating of a html page by transforming 2 xml files. I
was going to use xslt for this and had bought 2 unopened books, wrox xslt
and o'reilly's xslt cookbook. But am now wondering if I am better of
learning XQuery instead?
Any thought and opinions would be appreciated.
Cheers - Tom.

Can anyone explain to me why the following XQuery expression (a simple
xpath expression) returns a different result than the same expression
in xslt?
document("document.xml")//a/@b
For the following sample document:
<root>
<a b="1" />

I'm a newbie with XQuery and I'm trying to execute a query with Saxon.
If I don't specify the XML source file name in the query, Saxon raises
the following error :
javax.xml.transform.TransformerException: Finding root of tree: the
context item is not set
Even if I specified the source file name in the command line.
Here is the command line I used :
java -cp saxon8.jar net.sf.saxon.Query -s books.xml books.xq

Hi,
I have a problem of binding data from XQuery to a dataset. Here is the
program I've extracted from 4guysfromrolla.com. This program read data from
an XML file (Employees.xml) and performed XQuery from this XML file. The
program ran OK to show the XML data on the Literal control. Instead of
displaying XML data on that control, I'd like to bind XML data to a dataset
and display them on Datagrid control (not in XML data format). ...

Hi,
I'm trying to execute a xquery statement and I get always errors.
It seems that only the prolog section is giving me errors.
If I want to declare a namespace the xquery processor is coming up with
an "unexpected token" error.
The same error appears if I just set the version.
The xquery statement itself is working without prolog, but I get no
results because of the missing namespace.

I am new to XML. Initially I was saving all the settings in either PHP
or text files or database tables and use to parse the config variables
from files or query from the database. Now I want to keep all the
settings in the XML file and get the setting values, user datas (as
database is not involved and all the results are stored in XML file
itself) from it.
Referring to http://www.w3schools.com/xquery/xquery_example.asp, it
gives...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
