I have some accounting and tax receipting type applications, developed
for charitable and non profit groups, that are exhibiting strange
behaviour on a few of the 30 or 40 user machines.
When some users (about 3 or 4 it seems) close the frontend db the Access
database password prompt appears. Users can just Cancel the pw prompt
(or enter the correct password) and the db will then close.
On the MS Office forum I found a post that...

This may only be tangentially related to Python, but since I am coding
a password authentication system in Python, I thought I would ask here.
In Linux (and presumably other *NIX systems that support it), when
shadow passwords are enabled, the actual password is not stored.
Instead an encrypted version is stored. Then, to authenticate the
password, the system re-encrypts the user's input to see if it matches
the stored, encrypted...

Short version:
Is there a way to configure (preferably programmatically) the max encryption
strength that will be used by the framework when connecting to a particular
SSL-protected web service?
Long version:
Historically, browsers could only be exported to certain countries if they
supported only 40 and 56 bit encryption; 128 bit was restricted. I believe,
based on my readings thus far, that this refers to the strength of the...

Hello All,
I am working through the SAMS "ASP.NET 2.0 - Unleased" book to teach
myself ASP.NET. It is a great book, but Chapter 21 "Using ASP.NET
Membership" is causing me problems - or maybe I am just missing
something.
It is telling me that in order to modify user password requirements I
need to add the following to the web.config file.

Hello everyone.
I am working on a Password Strength Meter and I am running into 1 problem that I would like to fix.
When pressing the "Clear Password & Try Again" button, the password clears out of the text box, but the meter will stay at its current position until text is entered back into the textbox. Once text is re-entered, the meter will display the results again. I would like everything to reset when the button is pushed, but I...

I'm not sure when it came into being, since this it the first time I
have worked very much with a password control in .NET, but if a
textbox that has a non-empty value for PasswordChar or the
UseSystemPasswordChar property is true, and the textbox has focus, if
the Caps Lock key is pressed, a warning balloon tooltip is
automatically displayed by the system. I cannot even find
documentation that describes this behaviour.
My question is,...

Hi, can anyone help please?
I am trying to get infromation from my wireless card, such as signal
strength and a list of SSIDs that it can see. I have been able to get
the signal strength (see code below), but I cannot get the list of
SSIDs. I have installed WMITools (from Microsoft) to delve in further
and it tells me that there is no instance for MSNdis_80211_WLanBssId
or MSNdis_80211_BSSIList.
The code I used to get the signal...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
