The Bytes volunteers are not free project consultants. If you have no idea how to even begin the project then you shouldn't have bid on it.

If you have already begun the project and have a specific question related to a area of code that is not working the way you expected then please post the code, along with the error (or description of odd behavior) and the volunteers here will see if they can point out something you may have missed.

But overall program design for the scope of the project from how to form the query all the way through to customizable column display is a bit much to ask.

Is there a reasonably simple way to dump an SSRS report into Excel format automatically at a scheduled time without using Report Manager/Report Server? Creating the report was easy, but we seem to be having security trouble with the server. SSIS is also working OK -- it loads all the data this report comes from.

Re: SSRS report viewer Execution ' ' cannot be found (rsExecutionNotFound) Reserved.ReportViewerWebControl.axd Every now and then, my users get this error while in the Reportviewer. Usually, they have to close the window where the report was rendered and pull it open again. Attempting to open the report again does not work. What is this?

I have SSRS deployed on a machine. My problem is whenever I create a new SSRS report project in Visual Studio .NET, I have to change the "TargetServerURL" name in the project properties to reflect the new URL. So I was wondering if there is a setting in the Visual Studio .NET environment that would allow me to do that change once and for all, so that any new project will automatically have the TargetServerURL that is...

I have a multi value Country parameter in SSRS which is populated by an Oracle dataset. There is also a province parameter which is populated based on the Country selected by the user. These parameters are passed in turn to another dataset which the report is based on. The problem is when the report is run,the first province and country are always in the report whether they were selected or not. If I run the query in SQLPLUS with the parameter...

Is there a way in which I can re-direct an unauthorised user who tries to view a report in SQL Server Reporting Services to show a custom error message rather than show the unfriendly SSRS error message that appears? If I created a report and set a 'Jump To Report' variable, then this would always jump to the error message if the user clicked on a link to jump to another page, which wouldn't be what we want, would it? Any help/ideas...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
