Best book for beginning ASP.NET with C#?

9 New Member
Hello there guys,

So yeah, I'm looking for an easy book to beginning ASP.NET 3.5 with C#. I want to start building websites in ASP.NET and will be doing it in university also so looking for an easy book to get me started. I have always loved Sams books in the past for getting started so wouldn't mind something similar to theirs. Sams do a book for 3.5 but it is in Visual Basic, and I want C#.

Oh, and I'm new to programming, so far I only know XHTML, CSS and a tiny bit of JavaScript. So you can see why a Sams style would be suited.

I've been looking on Amazon but nothing really sticks out so, hopfully you guys can help point me in the right direction.

Thanks

Andrew

Edit: Maybe I have put this in the wrong section. You may move if I have. Sorry.

I've been looking at Sam's Visual C# 2008, which looks great.

Summary of chapters: http://www.powells.com/biblio?isbn=9780672329906

Is this ASP.NET though? What would I be learning exactly?

In addition to books you can always look into msdn. I guess learning C#
and getting started C# would be good for you ...

Thanks

Humm, yeah. I have browsed all these books online but wasn't sure which ones were good. I've browsed Amazon and some of the ones I think look good have gotten bad reviews from others on there. e.g Beginning ASP.NET 3.5 in C# 2008.

I bought Sams Visual C# today which will be a good start, as Sams always are. Though I don't think it's really about websites so my next purchase will be http://www.amazon.co.uk/Microsoft-AS...7214835&sr=8-4

Only one review but I think it seems exactly what I want.

I've recentlty been getting into programming. I was wondering what language to learn first and after asking around I decided on Python. I'm about half way through "Non-Programmers Tutorial For Python" By Josh Cogliati (http://www.honors.montana.edu/~jjc/easytut/easytut/) and I'm wondering where I should go after this. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

I've been through the beginning versions Wrox's ASP 3.0 AND ASP Databases. I wan't to start getting into .Net but don't know what to get. Should I get the "beginning" versions or go to the Professional versions. I have "no" idea how different .net is so I don't know how to choose. Thanks!

Sorry, Im sure its a FAQ. Im looking for something fairly in-depth to increase my knowledge of C#. As well as details on the language, good coverage of the CLR is needed since Im specifically looking to understand how BEST to use the language in order to optimise memory usage and create stable apps. Any recommendations appreciated. Thanks

I'm sure this question has been asked a hundred times. I did a google search and found some older post and some mixed reviews. I am looking for an updated opinion on which book is the best for learning Visual C++ .NET. A little background, I have been programming C# for the past year and I was a Visual Basic programmer for about 5 years before that. I created a new project in C++ .NET and it is like night and day compared to C#. I was...

Hi, I have been developing using C# in ASP.Net for about a year now. And have been a programmer for about 10 years. I have learned many different things in .NET, but still when I look at sample code fromother programmers I feel like I am so far behind. I see them usingstuff like Interfaces, IEnumerables, StringBuilders, etc. I have written several applications in C# since I started, but I don't ever seem to need or use those more...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
