I have Enterprise Manager on my local machine. For the last twelve
months it has been connecting without problem to my online SQL Server
database provided by my ISP.
Three weeks ago the ISP applied some sort of extra security
arrangements to their SQL Server to allow access only through port
1433. they have told me to configure an alias using Network Client and
to register this alias in the usual way using my Enterprise Manager.
My...

Hi,
I Have a web application that uses IIS 6.0 URL Authorization and AzMan to
control access to URLs based on custom user roles.
In some pages there is a custom web control that uses an HttpHandler to
generate dynamic images from a database.
The problem is that when I Set the wildcard configuration properties of the
virtual directory containings pages to be authenticated to point to the
URLAuth.dll file, the ProcessRequest method of the...

Hello,
I've started using Enterprise Library 2.0 recently and I've encountered
a problem that seems to be ... well... undocumented :)
Basically, when I set a Trace Listener (formatted event log to be
precise), if i specify the name of a custom event log, the listener
won't log in it.
I've checked in the registry, the log is there. In the event viewer, I

Hello
I'trying to get AzMan running on Windows XP SP2. I wrote a small app that creates an xml-store. It works perfectly if I install the Windows 2003 Administrotion Tools Pack before running the application. However, I wondered if its possible to get this running by only installing the runtime library, eg no Gui and stuff (I wouldn't need it on a client anyway). I tried with the Windows 2000 Authorization Manager Runtime, but no luck. The...

I am using Enterprise library v3.1 for developing a windows application. its working well.
but there is a security issue, when i deploy this application on client machine the applicationname.exe.config contains connectionString and other secure information. My question is how I can secure applicationname.exe.config file so that anyone could not open it.
I have tried encryption of Data Access Application Block (with both providers RSA &...

I am new to AzMan, but it seems as though what I am looking for is not possible, but I wanted to get some feedback.
I have a set of Service Methods which I want to secure each method with a single AzMan operation definition. However, these services are shared across many applications. So I consider the service methods as being global, a.k.a. not part of an application.
Each application will be represented in a single AzMan repository...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
