How to use "<" character inside attribute?

Dear Experts,
I try to use a < character as a part of an attribute value in the
following way:
.........
<ConditionalSta tement seqNumber="5" relationalOp="S <"/>
.........

If I try to use the Internet Explorer browser to show a file with this
line, it failed with the error message:

The XML page cannot be displayed
Cannot view XML input using XSL style sheet. Please correct the error
and then click the Refresh button, or try again later.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The character '<' cannot be used in an attribute value. Line 45,
Position 52
<ConditionalSta tement seqNumber="5" relationalOp="S <"/>
---------------------------------------------------^

Is it possible to fix this problem?
Regards,
Serguei.

You need to use an entity reference to escape the <
relationalOp="S &lt;"

I am displaying some values on a report. I am opening the .asp page with a Response.ContentType = "application/msword" and these particular values appear in a table. One column shows percentages such as "5", "95", "50", or "<5" There is no "%" character stored in the database just the number (and the "<" sign if there is one). Problem is NONE of the "<5" values appear in my report table. Does this have something to do with "<" being...

Out of curiosity, may a CDATA section appear within an attribute value with datatype CDATA? And if so, how about other attribute value datatypes which accept the XML markup characters? To me, the XML specification seems a little ambiguous on this, so I defer to the XML authorities. Refer to sections 2.4 and 2.7 (it all hinges on if CDATA attribute values are part of markup or not.) Thanks.

Hi everyone, Thanks to all who have helped with various issues in the past. I've come up with a new one though: I've run some html through a javascript converter; basically it takes the html and outputs the following: var str=''; str+= // whatever text I want document.write(str);

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
