Checking compatibility between schemas

Hi all.

I have been trying to find a way to check wether one schema includes the
semantic definition of another, i. e., can an XML-document sent to Schema1
be sent to Schema2 instead. The reverse does not have to hold. In fact,
it is not expected to hold. The reason
for this is that we want in an automatic fashion to verify wether or not
schemas provided by a third party are compatible with ours. I have been
searching the web for tools and I have been checking libraries for Java to
find support for this, but so far, I have not found anything. It feels
like this is quite a general problem though.

I would be greatful for any insights.

I have a little proposal about type checking in python. I'll be glad if you read and comment on it. Sorry for my bad english (I'm not a native English speaker) A Little Stricter Typing in Python - A Proposal As we all know, one of the best things about python and other scripting languages is dynamic typing (yes I know it has advantages and disadvantages but I will not discuss them now). Dynamic typing allows us to change types of...

Hi, I'm trying to do a simple link checking for python 2.1.3 (compiled from source on linux), but it fails when I use an invalid ssl url. For example: I have zope without ssl running on port 8080, if I do this on the browser's address bar: https://my_ip:8080 --> The https is intentional mozilla on linux and IE on windows, take a long time till a timeout

All right, since my previous idea (calling functions through a wrapper) was apparently so awful no one could suggest any improvements, I'll try a different tack. My end goal is to make detecting and reporting script errors easy and painless. This could be accomplished easily if window.onerror were ubiquitous, but it is not. My new idea is to hack together something superficially resembling C's assert() macro, perhaps something like ...

Hi, I have a lot of schemas to load into a schema collection. I load them in by reading each one into a XMLTextReader from disk and add them into a schema collection. I have a couple of issues to contend with. 1. The targetnamespace on all the schemas (except ones which define generic types) are the same. 2. The DefaultNamespace is the same as the Targetnamespace (I think this should be ok) 3. Some of the schemas import other sschemas...

We hear very often in this discussion group that bounds checking, or safety tests are too expensive to be used in C. Several researchers of UCSD have published an interesting paper about this problem. http://www.jilp.org/vol9/v9paper10.pdf Specifically, they measured the overhead of a bounds

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
