Guys, I have a little problem here. I have an AD domain with one DC and 2
other member servers and when I go to My Network Places and browse the
network, I can seamless see a list of all workstations (my 2 member servers
and my single DC) and servers. The network IP is 10.10.10.0/24
I have a second VLAN, 10.10.20.0/24 where I have another member server. I
joined this member server to the domain, added a subnet in AD Sites and
Services that corresponds to this 10.10.20.0 subnet and also created a
reverse lookup zone in DNS for this subnet. Everything on this network is
2003 ent. sp2.
The problem is that when I go to My Network Places at the member server
sitting at the second subnet, I can't browse the network. I do not get a list
of all the computers on this AD domain.
So, on this member server, I stopped the Computer Browser service, rebooted
and it was worst. I put it back where it was and then tried the
MaintainServerL ist key at the registry. I set this key to No and rebooted and
same thing (this time windows told me that I didnt have permissions on the
network)
I also do a browstat status on this new member server at the second subnet
every 2 minutes and I never see the main DC listed. I always see the name of
this member server and nothing else... or sometimes I don't see anything
listed.
Looks like the problem is because this member server sits at this second
subnet (which has no DC residing in it) and not at the main subnet.
can you please help? 1 2144

First, you need to locate a group for your Windows issue. This is a .NET
programming group.
As you don't mention which version you are using, try the following...
As you appear to be using a web interface: http://www.microsoft.com/communities...s/default.aspx
Click the + beside your language. then scroll down to Windows. In Windows,
find the category for your version of Windows. Open it and find a group for
your question. This thread has been closed and replies have been disabled. Please start a new discussion. Similar topics |

I installed VS.NET 2003 on Windows 2000 Pro SP3. Since doing so, I
have no internet connection. Also, I have no access to my home
network.
I've done everything I can think of to correct the problem, and I'm at
a loss. Formating is not an option ATM, and i dont know it would
happen any differently next time around anyway. Suggestions would be
appreciated.

Hmm, this doesn't seem to work. I am probably tackling it completely the
wrong way, but basically I want a function to receive two IP's and a subnet
mask and return True if IP1 and 2 are on the same subnet, otherwise false.
I have got this so far:
Private Function IsSameSubnet(ByVal IPSource As String, ByVal IPDest As
String, ByVal IPSubnet As String) As Boolean

Is there an "elegant" way to determine if an IP address is on my subnet? Or
do I just compare the first 2 or 3 octets?

Hi!
I try to get the subnet location info using the code below found at
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.directoryservices.activedirectory.activedirectorysubnet.location.aspx.
But it only tells me that "instance" is used before it has been assigned a
value. Can anyone tell me what to do to get my subnet location info?
Public Property SubnetLocation() As String
Get
Dim instance As ActiveDirectorySubnet

Dear admins and users,
I have the following problem:
Because we don't have a DHCP-Server in our institution I need a windows script which will set the network parameters for a special subnet, such as ip adress, standard gateway and more.
Purpose:
A user is working in multiple subnets. There is need for scripts, each per subnet, which will set the right parameters for the subnet (scripts called by buttons on the desktop of the user).

When I attempt to log on to a machine on the domain it takes around twenty minutes...
